Bone Shields – Xing Yi Day 44

Bone Shields is the idea that you can use hard parts of the body like the backs of the forearms to protect vulnerable areas like the inside of the arms, throat, midsection, etc…

If you are going to get hit or cut the back of the arm is much safer than the inside of the arm or throat.

The goal isn’t just to protect vulnerable areas though.

Every time some one tries to strike you they should hurt themselves.

Each of the five elements uses this concept.

Find a partner and have them throw strikes at you. Practice using the bone shield aspect of each of the 5 elements so that you partner hits nothing but hard parts that do more damage to them than to you.

Please practice carefully.
